Thank you all for your patience in these unusual times. The Scottish Government has decided that from the 2nd November there will be a phased return to NHS routine dental care including AGP’s. This means fillings, etc can now be done. This is great news, however it is important to highlight that it is not “business as usual”. Our practice will see less patients per day (approximately 10), due to maintaining appropriate social distancing, the requirement to wear enhanced PPE and increased cross-infection control measures. Please read the enclosed letter from the Dental Director for NHS Lanarkshire and read the Scottish Government Dental website for more information.
In November our focus will be in starting to work on the backlog of dental AGP treatment that started in March. We intend to start with patients who have been waiting since March and will work forwards till October. I feel this is the fairest way to proceed. Realistically it will take at least a few months to catch up on outstanding treatment. With the ongoing uncertainty of Covid we cannot give definite timeframes. Please wait for us to contact you individually regarding outstanding treatment.
Patient safety is our number one priority so we are asking patients to help us help them. Please use alcohol gel provided at our hygiene station at our entrance. Please do your paperwork (medical history, COVID health screening, etc) online before arriving. We wish to thank our patients who have used the portal over the last 5 months. The more paperwork is done pre-appointment means more safety for you and it means more clinical time can be spent with you.
Please also continue to be more flexible in your times available for appointments. We do not have as many later appointments as we did pre-COVID. We require people to cancel with 24 hours’ notice, otherwise a fine is likely be made.
Our waiting room sadly cannot not be used in the same way as before Covid. If our clinic is running late, we will try to contact you beforehand and ask you to wait in your car or outside. Unfortunately, due to the poor mobile signal strength in the local area there is a chance you may arrive and we may ask you to wait in your car / wait outside. Please with good grace work with us. Similarly, please do not turn up early for your appointment as we are likely not ready to see you till your allocated time.
Despite our practice focusing for now on outstanding treatment, if you have a dental problem or concern, no matter how small, please do phone the practice and we can arrange to see you. I will do a telephone consultation about your problem first, and we will take it from there.
We are continuing to ask adult patients to come to the practice by themselves. However, if an adult requires physical assistance, into the premises their supporter can wait outside. We would like a second person (ideally power of attorney) to accompany someone who has dementia or other cognitive issues. We ask parents to come in with a maximum of 2 children at once.
